Iroquois Wildlife Refuge
OK, here goes nothing.
At the time I'm writing this, it's the day after Thanksgiving and we're already all the way over in Melbourne, Florida!
A lot has happened, we had a great trip south, during which we did an incredible lot of amazing sight-seeing (crossed off a few of that 'bucket-list'), and we almost made it to where we had planned to 'winter', before our trip came to a sudden, screeching (quite literary), halt.
Lets just say, for now, that we're OK and everything is going to work out fine, so no worries, but I'll save that story for the end of this, 5-post long, journal.

So let's begin at the beginning, or where I left off, shall we, and get this show on the road already!
In the days before we left, the campground threw it's yearly Halloween party. A little early, but they were closing in a week, so it had be than or not at all.

We didn't attend the party but we were part of the 'trick-or-treating' by putting up the 'pumpkin-sign', to indicate we were open for business:

James dressed up as sheriff

And they came .. in full-force!

I was happy I bought a large bag of candy, we almost sold out!

The park finally started to show some colors by now:

And the road into the campground  as well ...

We went for one more round of golf at the Attica Golf Club:

A few more colors there ..

We said good-bye to Phill ..

And we visited the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge one more time. We'd hoped to 'catch' some of the bird migration there. Apparently this refuge is a regular, yearly, staging area for many birds to gather before flying south for the winter.

Unfortunately, again, because of the late fall this year, the birds weren't there yet. We did find some geese ..

A few Egrets .. and a whole bunch of colorful mushrooms and lots of chestnuts ..

And how about a snake .. yikes .. fortunately closely followed by some much cuter turtles ..

And we hiked a few short trails through the pretty forests:

Well, that's about all for our last week in Akron, NY ..  I think .. (it's been a while).
All that was left was to pack up ...

And to take off for the short drive to our first destination, Keuka Lake, NY

OK, phew, one down, 5 more to go!
