Only two weeks after Sturgis Rally, we were besieged by classic cars instead of motor bikes!
It was the weekend of Kool Deadwood Nites, which brings car lovers together for four days full of classic cars, classic music, shows, auctions and classic fun.

It’s been called a sort of 50’s and 60’s 'sock hop', with cars - Deadwood style.
We just went for the Saturday afternoon activities and strolled, once again, through Deadwood's Main Street and the parking lot in front of the old railway station.

As you can see, what's under 'the hood' is just as important as how the outside of the car looks like.
It's 'the thing' to have it popped open ....

Some of them can pop everything open ...
Lots of funny details ...

Are those propellers?
It's an amphicar!

And how are you supposed to get into this one??
No door handles?

Some were dressed 'in style' with their car ...

James liked these 1960s Chevrolet 'Stingrays':

And he owned one of these in the 70s:

His mom once borrowed it, and when she pulled up at the gas station to fill it back up, the young kid helping her just couldn't get over the fact that she would ride such a cool car!

There were lots of Hot Rods:

Holy smoke!
And even some 'Rat Rods':

Hey, even I remember this one!

Main Street was closed off and lots of people had claimed a spot, by setting up a chair, to listen to the band that would play later on:

Actually, according to the newspaper the music was supposed to start at 4 pm, but while we were there from 4 to 6 pm, nothing happened!

We were not going to wait it out either, as these brave souls were set to do, since it was on the cool side at about 55F (and windy) !

Instead, we went home and, still huddled in my hooded sweatshirt, tried to get warm again with a good glass of wine and a nice piece of cheese ....

That's smoked Gouda, to be precise!
Very nice indeed!!
